Lincoln Reflexology Experience
In today’s everyday life, we are all increasingly living more stressful and demanding lives day to day. Reflexology sessions can be very effective in helping this way of living, helping us to be more centred and balanced, ultimately maintaining a good health and well-being. It is important to remember that Reflexology is a complementary therapy and should always be used alongside conventional medicine and healthcare treatments.
When you come to CentredTherapies which is based at Manor House, 3 Low Moor Rd, Lincoln your Reflexology Therapist, Carolyn, will apply pressure to pressure points of the hands and feet, combined with a massage of the same areas. The aim of this treatment is to encourage healing, relieve tension and symptoms of stress. It can also be used to improve your general overall health and well-being.
Reflexology works around the generalization that the body has ‘reflexes’ in certain areas. These reflexes are linked to all different areas of the body through the vast map of our nervous system. The foot and hand a like a map of the whole body, so putting pressure on the left side of the foot corresponds to the left side of the body and so on.
Benefits of a Reflexology treatment will include:
- Encourages rest and good quality sleep
- Can help to improve blood circulation
- Can help to improve digestion
- A reliever of stress-related illness
- Can help to elevate headaches and migraine
- This form of treatment is used as a natural aid to healing.
- Helps to ease tension and pain
- Helps to bring peace and calmness to the body
What to expect during a session of Reflexology in Lincoln
A session usually lasts for approximately 45 minutes to an hour, with time to discuss with Carolyn any health issues that you may have, before the session begins. You will need to remove your socks and shoes only and lay on the couch for the treatment. Reflexology is a none intrusive treatment.
Reflexology treatment is not painful, but sometimes you may feel a little sore or tenderness in the hands or feet. Thumb pressure and firm hand massage movements will help to take away aches and pains.
During a reflexology session, pressure will be applied to certain reflexes. This will ultimately help to affect energy flow and direct communication via signals around the body only targeting the areas of either tension or pain. People like different pressure applied, so don’t be afraid to say if you could do with more or less, as the reflexologist will adjust the pressure to suit individuals needs. A reflexologist will always use their skill and knowledge of the reflexology foot map to guide their bespoke treatment for you. There is no set routine as this treatment is guided by what the therapist picks up from the foot/hand and its reflexes.
When the session is complete, your hands, feet or both will feel wonderfully relaxed and often people say they feel that they are floating on air! You will also feel in general much more calm and relaxed.
What should you do after a Reflexology Treatment?
It is recommended that you drink lots of water in the next 24 hour period. The main reasons are to re hydrate your body, help flush out toxins that have got moved around through treatment and will also help to improve your energy levels too.
Try to stay away from drinks such as alcohol, tea and coffee as these are stimulants and will change the effectiveness of the the treatment. Also only eat light meals to help with healthy digestion and allowing your body to heal.
Avoid exercise if at all possible for up to 2-3 hours after the treatment.
Finally remember to jot down any reactions that you have, if any, so you can inform the therapist at your next session.
